Creating a remote, practice-based experience that mirrors placement-style consultations — ideal where placement capacity is limited.

Safe, realistic and human (not AI)

AvatarJo’s simulated patient consultations are delivered by trained professional role-play actors — not automated or AI-generated simulations.
Each student completes one or more live one-to-one consultations with a professional role-play actor.
For assessment contexts, actors can be asked to follow consistency guard rails. For learning and development, actors can adapt to competency levels to provide a challenge appropriate to the learner.
Across deliveries, students consistently describe the experience as supportive
welcoming, realistic, and psychologically safe.
Skilled feedback
AvatarJo feedback is never coaching or advice.
Actors express how communication was experienced from the patient’s perspective, using examples of verbal and non-verbal communication.

Easy to pilot
Universities face increasing pressure to provide high-quality simulated and practice-based learning without adding demand on placements, teaching space or staff time.
The AvatarJo service is easy to pilot, quick to set up, with plenty of data captured to evaluate student ability and return on investment.

FAQs
Is this an AI simulation?
No, these are real human actors, professionally trained as actors and in specific role-play skills.
What work do we need to do to set this up?
Not much, just provide the scenarios for our actors. We handle the rest.
Can you use the video recordings for assessment or peer learning?
Yes, absolutely.
How much notice do you need to set up an event?
We have done it in under 10 days, but we prefer more notice if possible!
How do the sessions increase student off site autonomous learning time?
If you choose to use recordings for peer learning, students can review and discuss consultations in small groups, complete reflection tasks, and (where relevant) assess communication against your criteria. This can add 5–20 hours of structured learning per student, depending on your cohort design.
